Within These Four Walls (Heritage Lottery Fund Project in partnership with WInterbourne House and Garden)
Within These Four Walls explored the heritage of Winterbourne House and Garden, specifically looking at the history of its former owner John Nettlefold. Through identifying three themes linked to the property - leaders of the past, women in education and communication - the young people involved created, rehearsed and then performed three pieces at the site in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The project, which involved around 40 11-25 year olds, was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s ‘Young Routes’ Fund'.
My Generation (Intergenerational Cohesion Project in partnership with Arts 50)
My Generation, run in partnership with Arts 50, brought together young and old to discuss key topics such as relationships, politics, sport, and technology. From these conversations, Fourth Wall's members devised a series of performances that were then showcased at a joint event involving both age groups.
Upload (Cyber-Bullying Project in Partnership with the MAC Birmingham')
Upload was a free project that explored how social media is impacting the lives and mental health of young people within Birmingham. With participants aged 11-18, this workshop-driven project embraced difficult topics and made the young people look at social media in a new way. Upload was kindly funded by Awards 4 All.
Sticks and Stones
Sticks and Stones was the culmination of a 4 month series of workshops for children aged 5-11 years old in the Northfield area of Birmingham. The children were asked to identify themes that were important to them (which in itself is a big ask for 5-11 year olds), and they managed to create a performance which explored the topic of bullying in a thoughtful and delicate way. The group was ran by two 19 year olds who had previously worked on another project, so it was great to see them progress from participant to leaders!
Dreams
Dreams was a devised performance by 11-18 year olds from the Northfield area of Birmingham. Dreams explored the idea of aspirations, ‘growing up’ and social mobility through the eyes of young people.
Dark Streets
Dark Streets was a devised theatre piece created by the young members of our Longbridge Theatre Company. The 11-18 year olds worked with the project manager to create an intellectual performance which explored the themes of ‘a better world’ and a dystopian future.
